Middleware Specialist (Microsoft)

Job Description:

A Middleware Specialist is to provide support on Enterprise Microsoft service offering to include backup and consultation support to XYZ environment as required.


The Middleware Specialist will complete the following activities;

SharePoint 2010 Support and troubleshooting

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of the Enterprise SharePoint environment as follows:
  • Pro-active systems usage and capacity monitoring of the Windows Servers that make up the Enterprise SharePoint farm
  • Assessing and testing RFC’s related to the Enterprise SharePoint environment
  • Participation in release (RFC) promotions and implementations
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of Enterprise SharePoint Service Tier 3 support incidents
  • Collaboration with strategic partners in delivering the Enterprise SharePoint Service
  • Review monthly report cards, vendor remediation reports and creating and executing implementation plans to address findings
  • Management of SSL and PKI certificates
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of complex application solution integrations with other environments including the .NET SDE

.NET SDE Operational Support

  • Participation in deployment and release (RFC’s) related to the .NET platform
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of .NET Tier 2 and 3 support incidents and problems including complex integration across the various technologies supported within the .NET and Enterprise

SharePoint platform such as:

  • IIS
  • Dynamics CRM
  • Biz Talk
  • Host Integration Services
  • Universal Access Gateway
  • Threat Management Gateway
  • SQL Server
  • SQL Server Analysis Services
  • SQL Reporting
  • System Centre (Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, Configuration Manager)
  •  Troubleshooting and resolution of .NET Tier 2 and 3 support incidents and problems which include complex network integrations to both internal and external 3rd party service offerings
  • Backing up the .NET operational staff in the proactive monitoring, operations of the environment… Defining and developing a windows support guide for internal staff members for cross training;
  • Define and create documentation for each of the following deliverables which will be the tools used to train internal support staff in the support and troubleshooting of the Windows Environment
  • Contribution of knowledge records for support team to the office knowledge base
  • Prepare a presentation that provides a overview of the Windows physical and logical environments and the areas in which our office supports the Windows applications
  • Train internal staff members in the support and troubleshooting of the windows applications
  • Training of current technical staff in monitoring, troubleshooting and support of the Windows environments utilizing the presentation and support guide created above.

 Middleware Specialists, Level 3

  •  Experience with applications servers
  • Experience working with application solutions that require cross-platform integration
  • Subject-Matter-Expert in SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2003 server farms
  • Knowledge of SharePoint 2013
  • Experience\Expert level with PowerShell
  • Experience with Network Load Balancing (NLB)
  • Experience\Expert level with deployment of .net application
  • Experience with development framework/technologies
  • Expert in troubleshooting [Unified Logging Service (ULS) Logs, Internet Information Services (IIS) logs, SQL query, SQL trace route]
  • Expert level with Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 and 7.0
  • Knowledge of Unified Access Gateway (UAG) and Threat Management Gateway (TMG)
  • Experience in middleware software installation, configuration, tuning and administration
  • Experience with application development
  • Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications
  • Experience working in Windows Server 2008 and 2012 environments.
  • Experience working with application solutions that require integration across multiple Windows technologies with SharePoint such as Dynamics CRM, Biz Talk, SQL Server, SQL Reporting, SQL Server Analysis Services, Universal Access Gateway
  • Knowledge of data centre technologies such as System Centre 2007 (Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager and Configuration Manager) to monitor and maintain a high-availability environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of operational processes and procedures for operating production systems in a large organization such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Experience with distributed and networked systems
  • Knowledge and experience with systems analysis and development
  • Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management
  • Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS)
